Background information: The Språkprøven i norsk for voksne innvandrere was established in cooperation with the University of Bergen and the Folke- universitetet. This Norwegian language proficiency test comprises five sections i.e. reading; writing; listening; speaking and structural competence (vocabulary and grammar). The exam is available for Norwegian bokmål and Neo-Norwegian.

Test Sites / Results / Dates: Exams can be taken at 60 examination centres in Norway. Exams are rated from 50 points (minimum) to 300 points (maximum). The Norwegian Ministry of Churches, Education and Research considers 220 points sufficient for those requiring language skills for higher education and work purposes. Exams can be taken quarterly and results are available within six weeks.

Background information: The Test i norsk for fremmedspråklige - høyere nivå. Bokmål was established in cooperation with the University of Bergen and the Folkeuniversitetet. This advanced Norwegian language proficiency test was designed for foreign nationals and is recognised in the business / higher education sectors. The test comprises five sections i.e. reading; writing; listening; speaking and structural competence (vocabulary and grammar).

Test Sites / Results / Dates: This examination can be taken at universities and language centres in Norway. It is possible to take this exam at universities and embassies abroad. Exams are rated from 150 points (minimum) to 720 points (maximum). A score of 450 – 500 points is usually required for higher education purposes. Exams can be taken six times yearly and results for the written part are available within six weeks (oral exam within three weeks).
