GENERAL LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATES / TESTS
The following are listed according to level of difficulty:
Level 1 (preliminary):
ZLaF (Zertifikat Lëtzebuergesch als Friemsprooch)Background information
: The ZLaF was established by the Centre de Langues Luxembourg (CLL) and is endorsed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education (based on the Council of Europe's Waystage Level specification). Candidates should be capable of communicating in a limited number of everyday situations. The exam consists of three sections i.e. reading, writing and listening / speaking. Candidates can elect to take only one or two sections, or sections at different levels.Test Results / Dates: Candidates are awarded either a pass or a fail for each section of the exam. This exam can be taken twice a year.

Level 2 (elementary):
1DLaF (Éischten Diplom Lëtzebuergesch als Friemsprooch)Background information: The 1DLaF was established by the Centre de Langues Luxembourg (CLL) and is endorsed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education (based on the Council of Europe's Threshold Level specification). Candidates should be capable of dealing with most everyday situations. The exam consists of three sections i.e. reading, writing and listening / speaking. Candidates can elect to take only one or two sections, or sections at different levels.
Test Results / Dates: Candidates are awarded either a pass or a fail for each section of the exam. This exam can be taken twice a year.

: The 2DLaF was established by the Centre de Langues Luxembourg (CLL) and is endorsed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education (based on the Council of Europe's Threshold Level specification). Candidates should be capable of communicating effectively in more complicated social / professional issues. The exam consists of three sections i.e. reading, writing and listening / speaking. Candidates can elect to take only one or two sections, or sections at different levels.Test Results / Dates: Candidates are awarded either a pass or a fail for each section of the exam. This exam can be taken twice a year.

Level 5 (advanced):
IDL (Ieweschten Diplom Lëtzebuergesch)Background information: The IDL was established by the Centre de Langues Luxembourg (CLL) and indicates that the candidate is capable of interacting fluently at all levels e.g. discussing social / professional / cultural issues. The exam consists of three sections i.e. reading, writing and listening / speaking. Candidates can elect to take only one or two sections, or sections at different levels.
Test Results / Dates: Candidates are awarded either a pass or a fail for each section of the exam. This exam can be taken twice a year.
